Fascinating. Goes against everything I have ever read/watched about tuning a snare, but then again, I have never been happy with anything I’ve tried. I will probably try this on my crappy Sonor Safari snare.
The video is still on you-tube and this technique works great- you just have to adjust it a little for an 8 lug snare….

Sounds kinda lame 😉 I would just tune normally and use muffling.
It does seem a little obnoxious, but I’ll be trying it. I’m a total sucker for stuff like this.
